AMPJP AGM

On Sunday 25 August 2019, the AMPJP held its Annual General Meeting in Manly, NSW.

The 2019-2021 AMPJP Council is:

  1. Professor Peter Steane (representative of Catholic Healthcare)
  2. Julianna Drobik (representative of Dominican Education Australia)
  3. Moira Najdecki (representative of Good Samaritan Education)
  4. Rosemary Copeland (representative of Kildare Ministries)
  5. Jennifer Stratton (representative of MercyCare)
  6. Dr Tessa Ho (representative of Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries)
  7. Eva Skira AM (representative of St John of God Australia)

Association of Ministerial PJPs Council:

Office bearers elected were:

  • Chair: Eva Skira AM (replacing Br Paul Oakley cfc)
  • Deputy Chair: Moira Najdecki (replacing Eva Skira AM)
  • Treasurer: Peter Steane (replacing Sue Fabian)

 

The AMPJP Council is elected on a rotation system which ensures an equitable representation of member organisation by size and ministry. Those whose term on the Council has ended are:

  • Br Paul Oakley cfc (representative of Edmund Rice Education Australia)
  • David Penny (representative of Calvary Ministries)
  • Kieran McCarthy (representative of Mercy Partners)

 

Eva Skira, newly elected Chair of the Council of the AMPJP, said:

“We feel privileged and honoured that our peers have elected us as Office bearers of the AMPJP Council, and we look forward to working with the rest of the Council to better equip PJP Trustees for their role, facilitate Member collaboration on common goals and foster coordination and communication with other Church Authorities.”

 

Ms Skira also acknowledged Br Paul Oakley for his:

strong and visionary leadership as the inaugural Chair of the AMPJP Council that began in June 2016, following his proactive involvement in its establishment. I also wish to recognise and thank David Penny and Kieran McCarthy for their support, commitment and wise counsel as Councillors of AMPJP.”

 

After the AGM we were joined by:

  • Archbishop Mark Coleridge, ACBC President
  • Peter Carroll, CRA President
  • Anne Walker, CRA National Executive Director
  • John Lochowiak, Chairperson, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC)
  • Mick Newell and Sarah Catterick representatives of Catholic Church Insurance (sponsors of the dinner))

At a break in the meal we acknowledged the significant anniversaries of some of our members:

  • 25th anniversary Catholic Healthcare (the oldest Australian Ministerial PJP);
  • 15th anniversary of St John of God Australia; and
  • 10th anniversary of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, Mercy Partners and Calvary Ministries.
