Summary of AMPJP Council Meeting 09th Feb 2022
1. AMPJP Membership application from Mercy Ministry Companions – With great enthusiasm the Council approved the AMPJP membership application from Mercy Ministry Companions effective as of 01 March 2022.
2. Papers: “MPJPs in Australia” and “The Role of the Canonical Steward” – A canonist has provided feedback on the paper “MPJPs in Australia”. This paper needs updated statistics on MPJPs. Both papers should be ready for AMPJP Council consideration in March 2022.
3. AMPJP Dinner and Forum 2022 – The Council agreed to reschedule the planned March 2022 Forum and to cancel the planned Sept 2022 Forum. This was due to both: (1) the postponement of the Catholic Health Australia Conference from March to 22-24 August 2022; and (2) the current reluctance of some people to travel due to COVID infections and border/quarantine conditions. AMPJP AGM Dinner will now take place in the evening of Sunday 21 August 2022 at the Hilton, Brisbane. A full-day Forum for MPJP Canonical Stewards will take place at the same venue on the following day.
4. Women in governance webinar – The Council supported holding a Webinar titled “Women at the governance table”. This will be held on Tuesday March 8, 2022, 11.00–12.00pm AEDT and be open to all MPJP Canonical Stewards. Some Canonical Stewards will provide short presentations followed by breakout room discussion
5. Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd – The Council agreed to meet with ACSL to build upon existing mutual understanding and common goals.
6. Other business
- The meeting discussed the AMPJP relationships with other Church Authorities.
