Change of Chair for School Authorities Committee

Philomena Billington’s contribution is hailed ahead of the conclusion of her three-year term as Committee of Religious Institute and Ministerial PJP School Authorities Australia (CORMSAA) Chair and Educationalist member of CORMSAA on 07 June 2023.

 Phil’s leadership as inaugural CORMSAA Chair has enabled this new Committee to quickly establish itself as a vital contribution to Catholic education governance. She has built CORMSAA’s credibility on its engagement with the breadth of Religious Institute and Ministerial PJP school authorities, representing their view on pressing, contemporary issues in education.

 

Phil Billington, AMPJP Council Chair said:

It has been a privilege to serve as the Inaugural Chair of CORMSAA. Its establishment has been critical during this period of significant change in Catholic education and in the Church. I have appreciated working together with all the CORMSAA Committee Members who are generous and dedicated people who have given their lives to Catholic education.

Ms Billington’s departure necessitated the AMPJP Council making the following appointments :

1)     Dr Frank Malloy appointed CORMSAA Chair (effective 07 June 2023).

Frank is the National Director of Marist Schools Australia, Executive Officer of The Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat Ltd, President of the Federation of Religious Institute and Ministerial PJP Catholic School Authorities in NSW and ACT Ltd, and Commissioner of Catholic Education of Western Australia. He has been a teacher and leader in Catholic education for 38 years. His Doctoral research focused on the use of national testing data to promote learning in Catholic schools. Frank has been a member of CORMSAA since its inception on 17 June 2020. Frank will represent CORMSAA at AMPJP Council meetings, which he currently attends as member representative of AMPJP Associate, The Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat Ltd.

 

2)     Audrey Brown appointed as Educationalist member of CORMSAA (effective 07 June 2023).

Audrey’s academic qualifications include: Master of Professional Studies Theology; Master of Educational System Leadership; Graduate Certificate of Education Law; Graduate Diploma of Arts (Theology); Graduate Certificate in Religious Education; Master of Education; Graduate Diploma in Education and Bachelor of Arts. Audrey’s employment in education includes teaching, educational support and governance roles in Religious Institute, Ministerial PJP, and Diocesan schools/systems as well as in tertiary institutions. Her current engagements include: Trustee of Kildare Ministries; Executive Officer and Company Secretary, CRMV Ltd; Member, Catholic Theological College Senate and Non-Executive Director, Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd.
