IWD: hearing women’s voices

7 March 2019 by

This International Women’s Day (8th of March), Voices of Faith, a women’s group for gender equity within the Church is calling men and women to support their new campaign called “Overcoming the Silence“.

The campaign encourages people to write short messages to Church leaders explaining why women should be represented alongside them in decision-making roles and to post selfies online or on Instagram so their messages can reach the widest possible audience.

The long-term vision is to empower women with equal status and power to men within the Catholic Church hierarchy. The group’s immediate priority is to have 30 percent of all leadership roles in the Church at a global level open to, and occupied by, women.

The AMPJP recently reported that Australian Ministerial PJPs have approximately even numbers of women and men as Trustees and on the Boards that report to these Trustees.
