Ministerial PJPs urgently needed for Church reform

Award winning author, Gerald Arbuckle SM, argues in his new book, Abuse and Cover-Up: Refounding the Catholic Church in Trauma, that the Catholic Church needs Ministerial PJPs as agents of reform.

He explains:

PJPs are urgent for the present and future cultural reform of the Church, an issue dear to the heart of Pope Francis. I see both here and in Nth America that critical ministries, such as healthcare and education, are increasingly in the hands of lay trustees in PJPs. It is wonderful to see this happening and in so short a time.

He goes on to explain the potential impact beyond Ministerial PJPs of lay people who accepted the call to participate in Church governance:

This means that more and more lay trustees of PJPs are ready to become  involved in the wider governance structures of the Church, thus sharing their expertise and faith commitment. I develop these points and further explain the need for the ongoing formation of trustees (see particularly pp. 118-63, 203-04).
