They expanding the library to include series with some of Australia’s most respected writers and spiritual formators, as well as internationally renowned writers and facilitators.

While Internet facilities such as YouTube and Google offer an abundance of free inspirational videos, much of which is drawing upon a fundamental spirituality and is embedded with advertising, the video resources in our Emmaus online library are produced specifically for our Catholic Faith communities and are completely ad free. Some of the special features of the Emmaus online video library are:

  • The videos are grounded in our Catholic faith and spiritual tradition, drawing on the richness of Scripture, liturgy and ritual, all of which is foundational to the ethos of our Catholic institutions and communities.
  • Many of the videos are inspired by our liturgical seasons and major feasts and serve as relevant support material for liturgical celebrations.
  • The videos aim to enrich the spirituality of the viewers; forming and deepening faith; providing an opportunity to experience the intimacy of God’s presence in the context of the viewer’s readiness and life experience.
  • Most of the video series are Scripture based and seek to break open the Word of God in the life experience of the viewers.
  • The videos are interactive; involving viewers in a variety of ways, including in some cases, proclamation of scripture and prayers, as well as guided reflection, group discussion and faith sharing. In this way, the video experience is not a static passive viewing, but an actual engagement in prayer and meditation.
  • The videos are designed to cater for personal and/or communal prayer and reflection. In this way they can be used by individuals or by a group without any adaption.
  • Several of the video series provide community leaders with effective models of how to facilitate opportunities for prayer, meditation and ritual, and demonstrate, in some specific series, how to break open the Word of God creatively.
  • The variety of video series cater for the diverse life experience, faith culture and spiritual readiness of the viewers.
  • The videos are located in our Australian cultural context and seek to be inclusive at every level.
