Sophia Education Ministries Board appointed
The newly founded Pontifical Public Juridical Person, Sophia Education Ministries took a big step forward with the appointment of its inaugural Board of Directors:
- Peter Pritchard (Chair)
- Elizabeth McClintock
- David O’Donnell
- Jacquie Shanahan
- Marie Leech
- Rita Carroll RSCJ
Sophia Education Ministries will be responsible for the three schools in Australia previously under the care of the Trustees of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. These include:
Lynette Toohey, Provincial of the Society of the Sacred Heart said:
“I am deeply grateful to each one of them for their wholehearted “yes” in responding to this invitation to be on the board of this new PPJP. It is an exciting time in the life of the Church, ANZ province and the whole Society of the Sacred Heart, and will not be without its challenges.”
Lynette Toohey and other sisters have worked with the Board on their formation. She said:
“Potential directors have engaged in an intensive formation process over the past 18 months, with particular focus on the Society’s spirituality, mission and educational philosophy. Needless to say each one brings a significant contribution through professional qualifications and generous service to the community. They are deeply committed to the mission of the Church and the Society. We approach this futuring with great humility as we journey together into the unknown future with a known God.”
Newly appointed Sophia Education Ministries Chair, Peter Pritchard, said:
“We know we will have Jesus by our side, as we journey together. I am excited by the challenge and with a strong Board, we have the confidence and capacity to continue the Mission for the Emerging Future.”
