To All Bishops and Leaders of Institutes of Consecration Life
Seminar for Professional Standards Managers – Dioceses and Institutes of Consecrated Life
Canonical Dimensions of Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults
The NCPS is mindful that Bishops and Congregational Leaders from time to time need to initiate canonical processes with the Vatican arising from Professional Standards matters.
Professional Standards Office staff of a Diocese or Religious Institute may be called upon to assist in the planning of these Vatican canonical processes.
A seminar for Professional Standards staff and Church Authorities will explain the variety of canonical pathways that exist and what is involved in determining the correct canonical pathway.
The presenters of the day are:
Bishop Anthony Randazzo
– Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney
– He is a canon lawyer who spent a number of years on the staff of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Sr Moya Hanlen FDNSC
– She is a canon lawyer, former Diocesan Chancellor and Provincial of a Religious Institute.
– A canonical case she prepared for the Vatican was the subject of favourable comment by the Royal Commission.
The day will offer a canonical road map rather than seek to train canonists.
