On 4 August 2023, the Pope told us that *‘Everyone, Everyone, Everyone’ is part of our Church!
Pope Francis calls for a more inclusive, participatory and synodal Church which listens and dialogues with the faithful and helps us to understand the current reality of the Catholic Church in Australia.
CRA recognises the importance of inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community within the Church and this was also raised during the Plenary Council of Australia. For this reason, CRA is bringing James Alison to Australia to continue the conversation across the country.
James Alison is a theologian known for his firm and patient persistence in promoting truthful conversation and dialogue in the Church with regard to matters LGBTQIA+ and for his pastoral outreach in the same sphere.
Generally, CRA holds member-only events but our Members wanted us to host an event which included their staff, co-workers and associates who work in their ministries in education, healthcare and aged care. They wanted to include those who work in Ministerial PJPs; and all those who wish to come together to think about these issues in a mission-focussed way.
The event, A mission-focused discussion about the Catholic Church and matters LGBTQIA+ will be held in Sydney in-person and by Zoom on Thursday, 28 September. We hope the hybrid format will encourage those who are interstate to join in. It is a 3-hour event which includes a presentation, group discussion and Q &A. There is a nominal fee of $40 to assist with costs.
