Alternate AMPJP online consultation re Synod on Synodality
AMPJP has agreed to host two consultation groups on the Document for the Continental Stage. It is expected that participants will only attend one of these groups.
A summary of the points raised in this consultation will feed into the Continental Stage of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in October 2023 “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission”.
Consultation group
Prior registration is required to ensure that the group has no more than 10 participants.
Participants can be from MPJPs or beyond.
All participants are expected to have read and reflected upon the 44-page, Document for the Continental Stage before the group meets.
The continental consultation is not the time to suggest answers, nor to decide on courses of action. That is the task of the Synod Assemblies in October 2023 and October 2024.
The Document for the Continental Stage aims to assist the ongoing discernment on the key questions:
- Which intuitions resonate most strongly with the lived experiences and realities of the Church in your continent? Which experiences are new or illuminating to you?
- What substantial tensions or divergences emerge as particularly important in your continent’s perspective? Consequently, what are the questions or issues that should be addressed and considered in the next steps of the process?
- Looking at what emerges from the previous two questions, what are the priorities, recurring themes, and calls to action that can be shared with other local Churches around the world and discussed during the First Session of the Synodal Assembly in October 2023?
