I was surprised to discover that the AMPJP has an ‘ambassador’ in Europe.
Michele Hugonnet completed a Canon Law degree at the Catholic University of Leuven in 2012, following her Principalship at St Vincent’s College Potts Point in Sydney, and a Directorship in the Catholic Education Office, Sydney. Michele has also served as a Trustee of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, and she is currently undertaking further research in Leuven in the canonical and civil governance of Catholic healthcare in Australia.
Recently I had a video call with Michele. She was a speaker at the recent Annual Conference of the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Her address was on our Australian Ministerial PJPs in healthcare. She particularly mentioned the significance of the AMPJP as the first association of its type internationally. While Michele is not aware of any Ministerial PJPs in the UK, she mentioned their good work in Ireland, Canada, the USA, and of course in Australia.
When Michele is next in Australia I will see if you can have a seminar to hear about her research and of any developments in Ministerial PJPs across the Church.
