Major discussion/decisions:
1 Discussion of about the Plenary Council – The Council thanked Eva for her contribution to the Plenary Council, especially her interventions (see AMPJP website). Eva will keep AMPJP informed of the Plenary Council’s progress.
2 AMPJP making public comment – The Council expressed support for the AMPJP developing a process for it to contribute to public discourse. A working group will draft further details of the AMPJP ‘voice’ (e.g., what, when, to whom, who approves).
3 Paper: “MPJPs in Australia” – The Council agreed that the draft paper on MPJPs is developing well. AMPJP Executive Officer will obtain further data to enable the next Council meeting to consider another draft of the paper.
4 Preparation for the AMPJP Dinner and Forum 20-21 March 2022 – The Council agreed on the following details:
Each participant (or their MPJP) is to pay:
Dinner & forum | transport | accommodation
AMPJP Members | Nil | Participants to organise and pay their own
Associate members | $100 p.p | Participants to organise and pay their own
Other accepted participants | $250 p.p | Participants to organise and pay their own |
A work group will finalise details of these events for consideration by the next Council meeting.
5 ACSL and new Code of Conduct for Church Personnel – The Council agreed that the MPJP position is that of support for high level principles rather than detailed procedures with regard the National Response Protocol, National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and a possible Code of Conduct. AMPJP will provide a nominee to the ACSL Advisory Group developing the Church’s Code of Conduct (to replace Integrity in the Service of the Church).
