AMPJP Executive Officer’s report on July 2021

30 July 2021 by

The last day of July was the Feast Day of St Ignatius of Loyola. It is worth noting that this year is the 500th anniversary of his journey of conversion. It was a journey that he recorded in his Spiritual Exercises. These are the foundation of the Ignatian spirituality that animates some MPJPs especially: Mary Aikenhead Ministries and Sophia Education Ministries.

CORMSAA met in July 2021. There is a bit of work for me in preparing for these meetings but the Committee are very engaged with most CORMSAA members working on projects between meetings. Their passion and vision sustains me. Although the Committee has only operated for one year, they have a clear sense of their role and are making tremendous progress.

COVID-19 outbreaks introduced lockdowns and uncertainty across most of Australia in July 2021. One of the consequences was that we was forced to postpone our AGM Dinner and annual MPJP Canonical Stewards Forum in Brisbane. There is a separate post that details these changes. I know that many MPJP Canonical Stewards were looking forward to gathering this year as 2019 was our last Forum.

Aside from planning and postponing the AGM-Forum, my other main work has been working with our auditor to complete the financial reports and working with the AMPJP Council Chair and Deputy Chair to draft the AMPJP Annual Report. These and other papers will be considered at the AMPJP Council meeting in August 2021.

Suscipe

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.

You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.

Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.

Saint Ignatius of Loyola, 1491-1556
