Modern Slavery: MPJP Canonical Stewards respond

The crucial role of MPJP Canonical Stewards in responding to modern slavery was explored in a 60 minute webinar on 20 Feb 2023.

The webinar included two short videos, one on the life of St Josephine Bakhita (Patron saint of victims of modern slavery and human trafficking) and another video entitled “What is modern about modern slavery?”.

Three presenters described what Catholic organisations are doing to prevent, identify and eradicate modern slavery:

  1. Christine Carolan, National Executive Officer: Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans;
  2. Alison Rahill, Executive Officer: Australian Catholic Anti-slavery Network; and
  3. Rosemary Copeland, Co-Chair: Kildare Ministries.
